The most telling statement from Dejoy during his testimony was that he “had to get costs out.” This is a sign that no stone will be left unturned to deliver what he promised, service be damned. Let’s say that this goes through and saves the reported 3.5 billion. The USPS is projecting what, a 6.5 billion loss next year? Then where is the next 3 billion going to come from? The loss is likely going to be much higher. Some of Dejoy’s initiatives do need to be done, but look at his body language and mannerisms during his testimony. It’s clear he knows he’s failing and has no answer. The damn place is a service, not a business.
