These 3 comments really sum up the problems of the USPS. It’s nice to see employees write about real problems rather than personal gripes. For an organization that cheats its’ employees at the bargaining table with claims of rising deficits and then has no shame in taking bonuses and having management awards dinners from the work done by craft employees should really be the ones to fear privatization. They will be the 1st to go!

I’m with the horses ass on this one, if you privatize the post office then all the dead wood ( non-carriers ) and their unions can be let go and the carriers can finally get a fair wage ( ups salaries ) once the privatized company doubles all the rates, like all the other countries privatized mail systems have done. Goodbye unprofitable FSS machines( just bundle in order of delivery, the magazines like they used to) and let the mail be sorted locally, so the carriers can start at a reasonable time, 9am doesn’t work. Get rid of the wasteful political mailings, eddm’s, junk mail and all those non-profit mailers scamming the seniors out of $$$$$,…. Just have 1 class of mail and parcels

Any new entity wishing to turn the USPS into a true for profit business, will need to clean house of the most worthless management at all levels, not much more can be said for the unions especially the NALC as they are in bed with management.

One positive result that privitazing the Postal Service would accomplish is end the stranglehold the APWU has on us. This would free up lots of cash now spent on grievances and too-high pay to the many workers who produce very little work and can’t be fired. Government has NEVER been known for efficiency.
