Yes, they would have been fired. I know this man’s supervisor personally, and he is usually sent around to post offices that need some “cleaning up” He does the dirty work, fires who needs to be fired and gets things running smoothly again. He then moves on to the next place. He has had to testify in court on quite a few occasions as to why someone was fired. No one has ever told him he wrongfully fired anyone.
