Mail clerk delivers for soldiers in Kuwait

Army Spc. James Day

USPS News Link – 10/05/18 – James Day is a soldier on a mission.

Day is the clerk in charge of the mailroom at Camp Arifjan — an installation in Kuwait that the Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard use to provide ground support for armored vehicles and helicopters.

Day, who often works with limited support, is responsible for distributing packages and letters to the thousands of soldiers stationed at the camp.

“I enjoy it. I’m left to my own devices for the most part. But as long as the work gets done and as long as everyone gets their mail, it’s fantastic,” said Day, who’s a human resources specialist in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Day’s work is appreciated by the soldiers on the base.

“He’s very smart. He knows his mail, and he knows his people,” said Staff Sgt. Timothy Kyle.

Day said hopes to transition from the National Guard to have a long career in the Army.

In the meantime, he enjoys working in the mail room doing what he can to keep soldiers connected to loved ones back home.

“I love doing it,” he said.
