Nebraska woman discovers mail stolen, credit cards applied in her name

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — For days during the holiday season, one woman said she came home to an empty mailbox. Now, she’s getting letters on credit card applications being accepted.

At first, empty mailboxes didn’t seem like much for concern to Amy Schinco. It wasn’t until she noticed a pattern that she became concerned.

“I probably wouldn’t have noticed it if it was just once here or there, but to have continually no mail, that’s when it kind of really drew the red flag,” Schinco said.

Schinco said she isn’t the only one who potentially had their mail stolen. Schinco told of at least two of her neighbors who she believes also had their mail stolen.

The loss of mail wasn’t the loss of mail causing the most concern. It was the letters regarding credit accounts in Schinco’s name.

“I started getting applications in the mail that were responses from credit card places saying, ‘Thank you for your application for applying for a charge card with Kohl’s or Target or Buckle or something like that,'” Schinco said. More at WOWT News Omaha
