South Carolina postal worker tips off police to missing mail across Horry County

Horry County, SC (WPDE) — On Tuesday, Horry County police announced that they had recovered pieces of mail stolen from mailboxes all over the county. Now, we’re finding out more about how authorities found out about the missing pieces of post to begin with.

Police say it was a postal worker who helped them crack the case.

They found out about mail being stolen throughout the county after a postal worker reported witnessing suspicious activity on their route.

“We tell them to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity, and that’s exactly what happened in this instance,” said US Postal Inspector Mike Carroll. WPDE
