Western Union Fraud Victims to Receive Compensation

USPS News Link – 11/21/17 – There’s good news for thousands of USPS customers and others who were tricked into using Western Union to send money to scammers.

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that fraud victims who used Western Union from Jan. 1, 2004-Jan. 19, 2017, to send money may be eligible to receive compensation.

Earlier this year, Western Union paid $586 million to settle federal charges for its role in facilitating scams that included phony lotteries, sweepstakes and IRS debt collections.

In the coming weeks, the Postal Service will deliver more than 500,000 letters to fraud victims who used Western Union during the 13-year period with instructions on how to get their money back.

Individuals with questions regarding their letters’ authenticity or eligibility criteria can contact Gilardi & Co., the legal settlement services firm handling the case, at 844-319-2124 or visit www.WesternUnionRemission.com.

Scam victims do not have to pay to reclaim their lost money.
