Watch: Mail woes continue in Larchmont

LARCHMONT – When village residents first began publicly complaining about mail delivery issues in March, many hoped the problem was just a temporary suburban nuisance.

But more than four months later, frustration continues: While some customers report improvements, others say the problems persist and a fed-up state lawmaker wants to bring the issue to the attention of national postal officials.

Congressman Elliot Engel, D-Bronx, is planning to arrange a sit down meeting with top United States Postal Service officials in Washington D.C. to present the list of complaints he has received from constituents, said his spokesman Daniel Bryant.

“We are aware of the ongoing issues at that (Larchmont) PO and several others in Westchester,” Bryant said. “We know folks are frustrated and so is the congressman. We’ve continued to compile all the complaints and report the issues, both to the local postal officials as well as senior management in D.C.”

  1. An earlier article said carriers just got a 1% raise while paying more for benefits, this is what their union negotiated, no wonder they can’t find qualified people.

  2. They need to hire better people, which means higher wages, all postal workers receive same salary nationwide. A good salary for Florida doesn’t cut it in the tri-state area.
