Video: Daughter of missing St. Louis postal worker seeks answers

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) – A St. Louis postal worker is missing. East St. Louis Police, St. Louis Metropolitan Police, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating what happened to 49-year-old Melanie Tally.

Tally’s daughter, Tiffany Smith, says she and her mom are close.

“We used to hang out, go to the movies, she loves to go eat,” Smith said. “Through ups and downs, my mother has been there to just pick me up, wipe my tears.”

Smith says her mom works at the post office on 17th St. and Market St. in downtown St. Louis. She says it’s the last place anyone saw her.

“She was last seen Sunday, April 23,” Smith said.

Smith says Tally, a mail handler, left work in a 2008 Dodge Avenger. She says Tally may have been heading home. Tally’s home is located in the Emerson Park area in East St. Louis. As days went on without a word from her mom, Smith grew concerned. She checked in with Tally’s coworkers.

“They were like, she hasn’t called in for work either and I was like uh oh that’s not like her, not to call in for work,” Smith said. Read more from KSDK
