Video: Mail vandals repeatedly targeting the same San Antonio subdivision

SAN ANTONIO – Several broken mailboxes, stolen credit cards and bills tampered with. Neighbors in far Northwest Bexar County fear the same mail thief is targeting their community. They turned to News 4 San Antonio for help.

Last Thursday morning, many people who live in the Silver Oaks Subdivision were met with a mess when they went to pick up their mail. They say since then, nothing’s been done to get their mail boxes repaired.

Silver Oaks is a peaceful community located on the outskirts of San Antonio.

“I thought this is a nice little neighborhood,” said Silver Oaks resident Michelle Ferguson. “We’re not going to have any problems.”

Ferguson has only lived in the neighborhood for about a month now. But she’s been dealing with a vandalized mailbox for about a week now. Mail stolen right in front of her house and from other boxes all over the neighborhood.

“There’s about six or seven of these boxes broken into in one night,” explained Silver Oaks resident George Monks.

Monks tells News 4 he’s lived in the development for a few years now, and this is the first time he’s seen any ounce of crime outside his house.

“One woman in the development, they got her American Express card, and within several hours they rang $2,000 on her card,” said Monks. Read more
