The new contract with APWU takes effect July 8 and covers approximately 200,000 USPS employees.
USPS News Link – 7.8.2016 – An arbitration panel informed the Postal Service July 7 of an interest arbitration decision and award.
The award is intended to resolve the differences between USPS and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) that resulted from an inability to reach a negotiated collective bargaining agreement after the prior agreement expired.
The award, which was the result of a legally mandated binding arbitration process that is required when the parties reach impasse, has resulted in an awarded contract covering approximately 200,000 employees in the clerk, motor vehicle and maintenance crafts.
The contract is effective July 8.
The Postal Service is evaluating the award.
