Winter Storm Juno expected to dump up to two feet of snow on Northeast

USPS Service Alert – January 26, 2015

The National Weather Service has released a winter storm watch for Winter Storm Juno from 7 p.m. Monday evening into Wednesday morning. The storm is forecast to blanket the Northeast region with accumulations of at least 18 to 24 inches of snow. Strong winds and heavy snow are likely to make travel and mail delivery impossible.

Due to Juno, the Postal Service has suspended delivery and retail operations in several districts as we brace for this major snowstorm. The line of impact includes facilities from the New Jersey shore all the way to Maine’s Downeast region, and includes the cities of New York City, Boston, Providence, Hartford and Portland.

The following postal districts are suspending operations today, and are planning to be closed continuing into Tuesday, Jan 27:

Connecticut Valley District – 010-012, 060-065, 067: All retail, delivery and plant operations suspended at 3:30 p.m.
Triboro District – 103, 110-114, 116: All retail, delivery and plant operations suspended at 3:30 p.m.
Northern New Jersey District – 070-076, 078-079: Retail units are closing at 2 p.m. Plant operations, including delivery mail units, are closing at 3 p.m.
New York District – 100-102, 104: Both delivery and retail units closed at 1 p.m.
