Man That Gunned Down a Letter Carrier Walks Out of Court a Free Man

9/16/2014 – Tulsa World reports that Jason Weed, the carrier murderer, has undergone treatment, gotten married and holds a steady job, putting the “brief psychotic episode” behind him. jason-weed

The U.S. Senior District Judge, Terence Kern, said the law will not allow him to keep Weed under continued supervision without evidence that he needs further psychiatric treatment or presents a continuing threat to public safety.

“Weed was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2001 killing of Robert W. Jenkins. He had remained under federal supervision for eight years after his release from a secure medical facility in 2005.

Jenkins, 30, was shot to death Dec. 12, 2001, while delivering mail at a midtown apartment complex. In 2002, Weed agreed with prosecutors that he committed second-degree murder when he shot Jenkins.”
