NALC joins rally in opposition to the Ryan budget proposal

NALC News

NALC Executive Vice President Tim O’Malley plus other letter carriers and NALC staff members joined a coalition of labor unions at the Newseum in downtown Washington to demonstrate our united opposition to the federal budget proposal written by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI). Rep. Ryan was filming a town hall segment with CBS News at the Newseum.

Speaking to the crowd gathered at the Newseum’s front entrance was Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD). Rep. Edwards made it clear that she ran for Congress to stand up for working families, and that means defending Medicare and all of its current and future recipients.

Rep. Ryan’s plan would overhaul the Medicare system as we know it and provide eligible Americans with a voucher to purchase private insurance. Rep. Edwards and everyone in attendance agreed that we must stand unified to say, “No to Ryan, Yes to Medicare.”
